About me

There was a time when I couldn’t put two English words together! Just saying “Hi” felt strange and awkward. Grammar, phrasal verbs, and idioms made my throat tighten and my tongue feel like it was tied in knots. Even though my English textbook barely weighed half a kilo, it felt heavy every time I held it. I thought I had no talent for languages and was on the brink of quitting—until something changed. One change, and everything turned in my favour.

What changed, you ask? It wasn’t an English textbook, a brain microchip, or a funnel to pour knowledge into my head—though that would have been great! What made the difference was my English teacher. She genuinely wanted me to learn and cared about me as a student. She knew how to teach, with a clear, tried-and-true path to continuous progress. While all the doors in my English mind were locked, she had the keys. She systematically opened those doors and guided me down the right path. Soon, grammar rules stopped feeling like spooks peeking out from the pages of my textbook. I made small progress, understood the basics of English within weeks, composed my first sentences in a few months, and eventually became fluent.

When the right teacher came along, I realised I had what it took. My wonderful teacher not only taught me the language but also how to learn it, which opened new horizons for me. Fascinated by languages, I decided to become an exceptional English teacher myself. I dedicated my life to studying English and pedagogy. I’ve reached a native English level (C2), earned a master’s degree in English language and literature, and obtained international certificates, including CELTA (University of Cambridge) and TYLEC (Teaching English to Young Learners).

In my nearly 20-year career, I’ve worked for the British Council, in various public and private schools, and in educational institutions across Slovakia and on three different continents. Drawing from what my English teacher gave me, I strive to awaken my students’ hidden talents, helping them learn and grow with confidence. I love creating engaging lessons that not only teach language skills but also motivate and inspire. I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels, from elementary to advanced, and am happy to tailor lessons to your needs, whether for intensive exam preparation or personal development.
